Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement on Republic of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Joint Address before Congress:

“on June 22, 2023, I was proud to welcome the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for a joint address before Congress. India is an important ally of the United States, working together in technological development and military cooperation. Our countries share the common value of democracy, and while India is the largest democracy, the United States stands the oldest.

"India continues to be a critical partner in the region, countering China’s malign influence and supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific. House Republicans will continue our efforts to strengthen this partnership and support democracies like India around the world.”
