Hamilton County Districts: Wells Central School District welcomed most students in 2023-24 school year

Wells Central School District had the highest enrollment among Hamilton County school districts, welcoming 135 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 94.8% of Wells Central School District's total enrollment.

Among the four districts in Hamilton County, Indian Lake Central School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 121 students, while Lake Pleasant Central School District welcomed 65 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Wells Central School District roughly covers schools within Hamilton County and has a main office in Wells.

In the previous school year, Wells Central School District also had the highest number of students among Hamilton County districts.

As of 2024, New York has roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 15 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
