Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court striking down the Biden Administration’s debt-forgiveness program in a 6-3 decision.

“OnJune 30, 2023, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of our hard-working taxpayers who would have had to carry a tremendous financial burden because of the Biden Administration’s unconstitutional student loan bailout. Biden’s student loan scam would have cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars and placed a burden on the 100 million Americans who never went to college, while transferring wealth to those who willingly took on, and have yet to pay off, their debt.

This decision is a victory for hard-working Americans, many of whom struggle to make ends meet and cannot afford to bear the weight of additional financial pressure in the midst of major economic hardship.”
