RA FOR YOUR FRIDAY

Let’s kick today off with a bit of a crossover episode, shall we? It’s March now, which means that our new catalog is coming next month. (Next MONTH!) Let’s make sure our patrons (especially our power users) know what this will mean for them. We’re sharing details and addressing anticipated questions on the NCLS New Catalog page, so please link out or adapt the page on your library’s website. (You can see how the Lowville Free Library has done it right here.)

NCLS will be posting regularly on our social platforms and sending our members print resources to share. Anything we create to promote the Polaris migration will be posted to the ILS page of the Directors Guide. The more we can spread the word and address questions before the go-live date (April 26!), the smoother this transition will be for patrons.

Moving right along… New book Club in a Bag titles are now available!

The Borrower, by Rebecca Makkai

Fight Night, by Miriam Toews

A Pilgrimage to Eternity, by Timothy Egan

There will be a post on Monday’s social, but the new additions are live now for holds – enjoy!

We’ve got March picks from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, the Chicago Review of Books, the LA Times, the New York Times, Shondaland, and The Millions. For all you genre fans, we’ve got romance from SBTB, sci-fi and fantasy from Gizmodo and Lit Hub, mysteries from the Cozy Mystery blog, and of course, crime reads from CrimeReads.

In pop culture news, the Daisy Jones and the Six adaptation premieres on Amazon Prime today, so make sure your copy of the book is in good shape. And if you’re feeling fancy, why not go the extra mile and put out a display of other novels about musicians?

Finally, #FridayReads: I popped over the Flower last week and grabbed some books from their new shelf. I’m right in the middle of Bleeding Heart Yard, by Elly Griffiths, with Our Wives Under the Sea on deck. Good thing we have a stormy Saturday coming… Happy reading!
