Welp, looks like there will be six more weeks of winter. The good news is that there are ALWAYS six more weeks of winter – it’s just math! – and we can spend as much of it reading as we want. Especially when the expected high is still below zero. Pro tip: If you listen to an audiobook, you don’t even have to take your arms out from underneath the covers.

Moving right along!

We’ve got February picks from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Town & Country, Time, Shondaland, the Chicago Review of Books, the LA Times, The Root, and The Millions. For all you genre fans, we’ve got romance from SBTB, SFF and horror from Gizmodo, and of course, crime reads from CrimeReads.

In awards news, the Youth Media Awards have been announced! We’ve also got the Carnegie Medals and the PEN America longlists.

Just a reminder that NCLS is hosting Robin Bradford and Becky Spratford for their three-part webinar series, Actively Anti-Racist Service to Leisure Readers. The first two segments are pre-recorded lectures that you can watch at your convenience; the third is a live, moderated discussion on Friday, February 17. You can find more details and register here.

Finally, #FridayReads: I’ve been reading Small World, by Laura Zigman, with Really Good, Actually on deck. I’m between audiobooks right now, but I really need to get on that if I want to keep my arms warm. In TV news, I’ve been revisiting Vera on Britbox while waiting for Sunday night to roll around and gift me another episode of All Creatures Great and Small. (#TeamSiegfried.) Happy reading/listening/viewing!
