Lit Hub takes a look at all the literary adaptations coming our way in 2023, so be sure to check that your copies are bright and shiny, since these titles may see a bump when people want to check out the source material.

In awards news, we’ve got the Edgar nominations. Awards lists are a great way to keep tabs on the best of a genre, and many of them have a category for first-time authors.

New resource alert! Check out Debutiful, a website (and podcast!) that highlights debut authors. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it forever – we can’t only buy authors people already know. It’s our job to bring new voices to our readers along with the old favorites they know and love. It keeps our collections diverse and robust and helps us reach audiences who like to read a bit more under the radar than what they can find in the book section of their local drugstore, grocery store, or big box store.

Just a reminder that NCLS is hosting Robin Bradford and Becky Spratford for their three-part webinar series, Actively Anti-Racist Service to Leisure Readers. The first two segments are pre-recorded lectures that you can watch at your convenience; the third is a live, moderated discussion on Friday, February 17. In my earbuds is Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone (come for the title, stay for the Aussie narrator), and I’ve been catching up on my TV with the first season of Abbott Elementary.
