Assemblyman Scott Gray (R,C-Watertown) released the latest episode of “The Gray Area” video series addressing the tumultuous week of voting and public policy issues. Gray expressed disappointment at the back and forth movement of legislators between Albany and their districts to pass budget extenders, stating, "This week has been a yo-yo week for legislators as we have been called to convene in Albany on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday to take votes. It’s disappointing that instead of staying in Albany to get work done, we are spending taxpayer dollars to extend and delay this process." He also expressed hope for progress on passing a state budget in the upcoming week.

Gray highlighted the housing package and good cause eviction policy as major obstacles to progress, particularly for upstate New York. He criticized the policy, saying, "What’s holding up progress to the best of our knowledge is the housing package and good cause eviction—a terrible policy, especially for upstate New York. Despite the name, good cause eviction is not good, it’s simply bad policy. The basic premise should be: you rent an apartment, you pay for an apartment."

In addition to discussing legislative matters, Gray mentioned attending Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos's retirement party, praising Seggos as a friend of the North Country and wishing him well in his future endeavors.

Gray concluded by inviting viewers to stay tuned for the next episode of "The Gray Area," emphasizing the importance of serving and working with the community. He encouraged individuals to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.
