Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush has expressed support for the Assembly Minority Task Force on Human Trafficking as it prepares to release a report outlining measures to combat human trafficking in New York.

Blankenbush stated, “As a father and a representative of New York state, I am appalled by the scourge of human trafficking that continues to threaten the safety of our communities.” He emphasized the need for decisive action, adding, “It is our responsibility to take swift, decisive action to not only punish traffickers but also to ensure survivors have the resources and support they need to rebuild their lives.”

The report is based on input gathered from nearly 200 individuals across the state, including trafficking survivors, law enforcement, prosecutors, social workers, educators, and other anti-trafficking advocates. These insights were collected through regional events and contributed to a comprehensive report, which features key recommendations and proposed legislation.

“The insights and testimonies shared by those who have lived through the horrors of trafficking, as well as the professionals who work on the front lines of this issue, have been absolutely crucial in shaping these recommendations,” Blankenbush stated. He further highlighted the report’s potential to enact change, saying, “This report offers a path forward with actionable steps that will help us protect victims, hold traffickers accountable, and prevent future exploitation.”
