Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush has secured a $50,000 State and Municipal (SAM) Facilities Grant for the Russell Fire Department. The funds are allocated for roof repairs at the department's current station, enhancing its operational efficiency and bolstering public safety in Russell and nearby areas.

Blankenbush highlighted the significance of supporting volunteer fire departments. He stated, “I prioritize and support our volunteer fire departments. They receive limited funding and whenever possible I work to secure the funding they need to continue to serve our rural communities. I am proud to have been able to provide this SAM grant funding to the Russell Fire Department.”

The grant aims to improve safety measures by ensuring that the fire department can maintain its services effectively.
