Assemblyman Scott Gray has announced funding for public libraries in the 116th Assembly District through the New York State Education Department’s State Aid for Library Construction program. The funds are part of a $34 million allocation for library construction and broadband infrastructure projects from the FY2023-2024 State Budget.
“With these funds, our libraries will be able to better serve the needs of residents by providing modern, accessible spaces and resources,” said Gray. “Investing in our libraries is critical for supporting literacy and education, as well as strengthening our communities as vital resource centers.”
Paulette Roes, Executive Director of North Country Library System, stated, “New York State Construction Aid is essential for building stronger libraries, transforming them into vibrant community hubs where learning, connection and opportunity thrive. These investments not only modernize spaces but also ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need in an evolving world.”
The awarded projects aim to improve library facilities to make them more accessible and meet community needs.
