Summer has arrived, bringing a variety of outdoor activities across the district. In the North Country and Mohawk Valley, counties dotted with small villages offer unique experiences compared to the rest of the state. From farmers markets to county fairs, this summer is filled with events for everyone in the district.

In St. Lawrence County, numerous activities are planned over the next few months. The St. Lawrence County Fair in Gouverneur is particularly notable. From July 30 to August 4, attendees can enjoy live music by David Lee Murphy and country duo "Locash." General admission costs $50.

Lewis County hosts its annual Lewis County Fair in Lowville from July 16 at 6:30 PM with a parade, continuing through July 20. Established in 1876, this fair has been a staple for local communities and attracts visitors from across New York State.

Jefferson County offers the Jefferson County Fair in Watertown from July 9 to July 14. This event features animal shows and a demolition derby among other attractions. Admission is free.

Oneida County's Boonville-Oneida County Fair begins on July 23 in Boonville and includes events such as tractor pulls, wagon rides, fireworks, and live music performances by Cooper Alan and guest star Tom Nitti on July 27. The fair concludes on July 28.

Residents of District 117 have many opportunities to enjoy their summer across Oneida, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, and Lewis counties.
