Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C-Black River) has co-sponsored legislation aimed at authorizing reimbursements to medical service agencies for providing emergency medical care to Medicaid enrollees. Despite five similar proposals passing through the Senate, only one has successfully made it through the Assembly. With only a few days remaining in the legislative session, Blankenbush emphasized the need to prioritize these proposals.

Blankenbush stated, "It is the last week of session for the year, and there are still four more bills relating to emergency service providers that have yet to be passed. We need to prioritize these important measures that would provide support to medical programs, or the status quo will continue for yet another year. We have seen a decline in volunteer EMS programs across New York, and these bills are necessary to combat that decline. Let’s get to work."
