CONGRATULATING THE QUEENSBURY GIRLS' LACROSSE TEAM ON THEIR 2022 SEASON

Thursday, July 7, 2022
Ms. STEFANIK. Madam Speaker, I rise today to congratulate the Queensbury girls' lacrosse team on their exceptional run to the New York Class B State finals and to recognize their incredible thirty-one game winning streak.
The Spartans have dominated over the past two seasons. They went undefeated in the 2021 season and had another flawless record in the 2022 regular season. While the state finals were unfortunately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, Queensbury was able to compete for the Class B championship this season. Queensbury was the first team from section II to compete for this title in over a decade, and this was the first state finals appearance ever for the school.
The road to the championship game for the Spartans was full of adversity, determination, and hard work. The Spartans were pushed to overtime in their semifinal game against Westhampton Beach when eighth grader Kady Duffy delivered the game-winning goal to defeat Westhampton nine to eight. Queensbury then went on to meet Victor for the Class B state championship. In this game, the Spartans got off to a rocky start and went into the half down ten to three. The team showed great resilience by coming back in the second half and holding Victor scoreless for ten minutes. However, the Spartans were ultimately unable to secure the title and eventually fell fourteen to five. Regardless of the outcome of this game, the Queensbury team showed incredible tenacity and foreshadowed what is possible for the program moving forward.
On behalf of the 21st District of New York, it is my honor to recognize the Queensbury girls' lacrosse team and congratulate them on their exceptional two-year run. We are very proud of their tremendous work and cannot wait to see all they accomplish in the years to come.
