New York State Senator Mark Walczyk has been appointed to the Senate Rules Committee, as announced on March 11. The Rules Committee is a key legislative body, second only to the Finance Committee, tasked with reviewing numerous bills before they proceed to a floor vote.

Senator Walczyk’s new role provides him with the opportunity to influence which bills advance in the legislative process. Such positions are generally reserved for more senior senators, often requiring years of service before appointment.

“Senator Mark Walczyk has been a strong, consistent voice in our Conference, and I greatly admire his service both in the halls of the Capitol and as a member of the Army Reserve. I’m proud to appoint him to serve as a member of the Rules Committee where I am confident he will continue to speak on behalf of his district and our conference, as well as advocate for common sense proposals that will help all New Yorkers,” stated Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt.

Recognizing the significance of his appointment, Senator Walczyk commented, “If I’m not in the room, I can’t advocate for our area. This is a big room; big committee. I welcome the additional work, and I’m honored to be selected. I’d like to thank Leader Ortt for placing me on the Senate’s Rules Committee and giving me a larger role in the fight for New York’s future.”

His appointment highlights his leadership within the Senate Republican Conference and his dedication to representing his constituents’ interests effectively. In addition to serving on the Rules Committee, Senator Walczyk is also part of several other committees: Banks, Energy, Telecommunications, Housing, and Internet and Technology. He holds ranking positions on Elections, Cities 2, and Commission on Rural Resources committees.
