Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY, has announced the winners of its DAISY and BEE Awards for January 2025. These honors acknowledge exceptional staff, with the DAISY Award specifically recognizing outstanding nursing professionals, while the BEE Award is given to other exceptional staff members at the hospital and its outpatient clinics.
Briana Gryglik, a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, received the DAISY Award. Gryglik was nominated due to her exemplary care during an encounter as a Graduate Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. Her nominator expressed gratitude for Gryglik’s attentiveness and compassionate service.
The DAISY Award is supported by The DAISY Foundation, an organization honoring nurses worldwide. Gryglik was awarded a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a sculpture called “A Healer’s Touch,” made by the Shona Tribe artists in Zimbabwe. A larger version of this sculpture has been installed in the Healing Gardens at Samaritan Medical Center as a tribute to all current and future awardees, made possible through donations from the Samaritan Auxiliary.
Janeen Lee, who provides clinic office support at the Adams Family Health Center, was the recipient of the BEE Award. She was nominated by Donna Edwards, Operations Manager for the Center, who stated, “She is extremely patient-centered and puts so much effort into ensuring that a high standard of care is given to each and every one of our patients.” Lee also received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, and a gift bag with tokens of appreciation.
Nominations for these awards are accepted throughout the year from patients, families, or colleagues. More information about the awards can be found at www.samaritanhealth.com/daisy-bee.
