Assemblyman Scott Gray from Watertown has commented on the federal immigration case involving a local family. The case, which attracted significant public attention, has concluded with the decision to return the family home. “I am pleased to share that the family at the center of this recent federal immigration matter is being returned home,” Gray stated. The family’s return was confirmed by federal authorities, and Gray expressed gratitude for this outcome.

Throughout the process, Gray maintained communication with federal agencies to ensure due process, prioritizing the children’s welfare and community integrity. According to Gray, the family has been released following health assessments and engagement with ICE and investigators. “ICE has made an independent decision to release the family while the criminal investigation continues to be conducted,” he noted.

The assemblyman addressed the issue of misinformation surrounding the case, emphasizing the sensitivity of details concerning the children involved. “Much of what occurred during the criminal investigation—particularly any considerations that potentially could have involved the children—is sensitive information and not a subject for public misconstrued banter,” Gray mentioned.

Gray acknowledged the emotional challenges faced by many during this situation and urged the community to unite following the resolution. “We must support the family and recommit ourselves as a community to ensure that all actions taken—by institutions or individuals—are grounded in truth, compassion and responsibility,” Gray concluded.
